LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There’s a new trade deal between the United States and the European Union going into effect by Labor Day. Last week, the U.S. announced plans to cap tariffs at 15% on most European imports, including cars, pharmaceuticals and spirits.

According to Against The Grain brewery founder Sam Cruz, he feels the effects of Kentucky Bourbon tariff changes.

“Just the announcement causes our suppliers and our supply chain to get a little shaky, too, where they either will halt any business or slow down the flow, or they’ll just simply say, ‘We’re going to go ahead and take a price increase now to account for it,’” Cruz said.

Cruz said it’s hard to plan around tariffs.

“It’s a little bit troubling. It’s hard to invest in business when things are so erratic and crazy.”
