A major road project is underway in Jo Daviess County. The Illinois Department of Transportation is realigning U.S. 20 from Rush Street in Stockton to Logemann Road, according to a community announcement.
The $31.6 million project includes constructing a new alignment north of the current roadway. This will feature a truck climbing lane and a new bridge over Rush Creek. Portions of the existing road will be reconstructed to include left turn lanes and paved shoulders.
Work this year will focus on earthwork and rock blasting to create the new alignment. Construction is not expected to directly impact traffic on U.S. 20, but trucks and construction crews will periodically enter and leave the highway.
Construction will continue in 2026 and 2027, including the new Rush Creek bridge. Additio
