Duke football officially opens its 2025 season on Thursday, Aug. 28, hosting Elon at Wallace Wade Stadium.

It marks the second-straight season the Blue Devils open against the Phoenix, taking them down 26-3 last year in what was coach Manny Diaz's debut. Duke went on to finish the year 9-4 with a trip to the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. It returns 14 members from its squad last season with 28 freshman newcomers and nine transfer portal additions.

Duke does not enter the season ranked in the US LBM coaches poll or AP poll, but it did receive votes in each. In the ACC, the Blue Devils are picked to finish sixth in the league.

Duke is 8-0-1 overall against Elon, with matchups dating back to 1920.
