EAST LANSING — Jonathan Smith talked a few times during Michigan State football camp this month but didn’t reveal too many details.
But between what the second-year coach, his assistants and players have said collectively, the Spartans believe in themselves and feel confident about the season ahead.
They’ll learn a lot more on Friday, Aug. 29, when MSU hosts Western Michigan to kick it off at Spartan Stadium (7 p.m., FS1). And improving on last year’s 5-7 finish and getting back to a bowl for the first time since 2021 are the minimum goals.
