The UK Government has announced that they are set to send an alert to phones next month. In a message on their official website, they say: "We are testing the UK’s Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September at 3pm ." ‌

The alert should make a loud siren-like noise and vibrate and should last no longer than 10 seconds. It will be sent to phones who are on 4G and 5G networks however if you want to opt out - whether it's for safety reasons or just a preference - you can do this in a few simple steps. ‌

The message will read: "This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby . You do not need to take any action. In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and oth
