GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - WITN is proud to highlight some of the incredible educators who inspire our students across the East, all thanks to your nominations. This week, we want you to meet Abbie Stanley.

Abbie teaches fourth grade at Ridgewood Elementary School in Winterville.

She has just begun her eleventh year of teaching and says this first week of school has been a blast so far!

Abbie says one of her greatest joys is welcoming students in August, many of whom are wide-eyed and unsure of what 4th grade will bring, to seeing them leave her classroom in June as confident, brave leaders who are ready for their next journey.

Abbie believes that teaching is more than textbooks, equations and awards; it’s about truly knowing the whole child by celebrating and discovering their interest
