Gemaus Sackie is used to working at a fast pace.
Extremely fast.
During the spring he was part of Burlington Township’s 4x100-meter relay team that not only won the Meet of Champions title, but set a state record in a time of 40.75 seconds.
The only thing that didn’t go so fast for Sackie was the recruiting process. He said it took a while to get his first offer, but eventually he would earn five before making a verbal commitment to Syracuse on June 15.
“I was really underrecruited,” he said. “Most colleges didn’t know where they wanted me to play, and it took some time to start getting offers.”
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Sackie is a little on the small side for linebacker.
“I am not as big and stocky as most linebackers,” he said.
