A police-involved shooting erupted in Englewood early Wednesday on the South Side leaving two suspects and two police officers injured during an incident that also involved a crash and a pursuit, according to officials.
The incident unfolded about 5 a.m. with a “10-1,” an emergency call for an officer in distress, in the 5800 block of South Shields Avenue, officials said.
According to a source, the incident involved shots fired at police and by the police, vehicles hitting at least one police officer and suspect and a chase.
As reporters on the scene about 9 a.m. waited for a news conference to begin, police spokesperson Tom Ahern told them the officers hospitalized had “minor injuries” and were not shot but may have been hit by a vehicle.
Two suspects were in custody, both of whom wer
