The north-east is full of plenty of villages with unique stories , but there are few as unique as one of our most picturesque on Aberdeenshire's coast.

And one of its most notable features is that both cars and bicycles are banned from the village , but it would be quite the task driving through it.

Situated right at the water’s edge, Crovie is accessible only on foot, with residents left to transport supplies and groceries in wheelbarrows to maintain the village’s quaint and secluded character, The Express reports.

Crovie was established in the late eighteenth century by families evicted from inland estates to make way for sheep farming as part of the infamous Highland Clearances.
