COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine (WABI) - It’s hard to miss the giant blueberry shaped building on Route 1 in Columbia Falls, but Wild Blueberry Land is more than a roadside attraction.

Wescogus Wild Blueberry owners Marie and Dell Emerson created Wild Blueberry Land more than two decades ago.

“My husband said, ‘Buy the corner and just build a little fruit stand,’ and I said, ‘Okay, let’s build a big blueberry,’” Marie said.

Outside, you’ll find plenty of blueberry-themed photo opportunities.

Heading inside, the ode to wild blueberries is just beginning, starting with the gift shop, ranging from pottery and aprons, to recipe books and baked goods.

“We try to keep things as local as possible,” Marie said.
