Plans for a new £4 million McDonald’s drive-thru in Dumfries have been approved. ‌

The burger barons have won their fight to develop a site on Annan Road near the A75. ‌

Members of the planning applications committee unanimously approved the plans – despite council officials recommending refusal. ‌

They had expressed concerns that the site would be “heavily dependent on visits by car” and did “not accord with the objectives of local living and would be over-reliant on the use of private transport”.
