Andy Howell has resigned as North Iredell High School head football coach.
In his four seasons at the helm, the Raiders were 12-29. That record also includes the first game of his fifth season. Last Friday, the Raiders kicked off the 2025 campaign with a 34-23 loss to visiting Wilkes Central in which they yielded 34 unanswered points in the second half.
Last season, Howell led the Raiders to their first state playoff appearance since 2006.
North Iredell athletic director John Sherrill confirmed the resignation and that Kent Millsaps is taking over as head coach on an interim basis. Millsaps, a former head coach at South Iredell, has served as an assistant the last two seasons.
The decision to step aside was family related, according to Howell.
