COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day is considered among the best in his sport at recruiting, developing and producing high-quality quarterbacks.

However, in the 2023 recruiting class, his Buckeyes were hardly in the mix for the nation’s top quarterback.

Why? That prospect was Arch Manning — the grandson of former Saints quarterback and SEC legend Archie Manning and the nephew of a couple other not-so-shabby quarterbacks named Eli and Peyton.

It didn’t matter how good Day’s resume was, Arch Manning wasn’t coming to Ohio State.

“I think they had their mind set that they wanted to play down south,” said Day, whose team is preparing to face Manning and No. 1 Texas on Saturday.
