CLEVELAND, Ohio — Lake Erie will be relatively calmer Wednesday, offering swimmers and boaters a brief break from recent dangerous conditions, though water quality is expected to be mixed at Cleveland-area beaches.

High pressure building across the region will keep the lake mostly quiet through today, though northwest winds of 10 to 15 knots could still produce occasional waves up to 2 feet into the evening, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

Waterspouts remain possible early Wednesday morning in lake-effect clouds and showers, but chances will diminish by afternoon as high pressure takes hold.
