MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed an active shooter allegedly opened fire at a church on the south side of Minneapolis Wednesday.
Details are scarce but an army of police and paramedics arrived at Annunciation Church, 509 W. 54th Street. Sources confirmed for KARE 11's Lou Raguse that an active shooter situation did unfold at the church. The source says initial information indicates that there is a significant number of victims, and some of them are children.
The Minneapolis Police Department posted on X around 9:30 a.m. that "the shooter has been contained" and there is no longer a threat to the community. Families of children at Annunciation School are urged to go to a reunification zone at 525 W. 54th St.
