MINNEAPOLIS (NEXSTAR) — Authorities say a suspect has been "contained" after a shooting occurred at a Minneapolis Catholic school on Wednesday morning.
Gov. Tim Walz said on social media that he had been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, located on the city's south side. Police told local news outlet KARE that an active shooter allegedly opened fire at Annunciation Church.
It's unclear if students, who had their first day of classes on Monday, were in the church at the time. There was no immediate information on any injuries.
In a post to X shortly after 9:30 a.m. CT, the city of Minneapolis confirmed "an active police situation at Annunciation Church," adding that there is "no active threat to the community" and that "the shooter is contained."
