RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond’s longest-running summer concert series is taking a break 2026.
Organizers say Friday Cheers, which initially started at the Richmond Coliseum in 1984, will resume in May 2027 after Venture Richmond’s Brown’s Island Improvement Project ends.
That construction is set to begin this fall and end in October 2026.
The Brown’s Island project has been in the works since 2019.
The project includes restrooms, water, ADA access, a splash pad, play areas, shade trees and more.
