The parents of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro were formally charged Tuesday with killing the child and falsely reporting that he had been kidnapped.

Jake and Rebecca Haro face charges of murder and knowingly making a false report of a crime in a complaint filed by the Riverside County district attorney. They appeared briefly in court Tuesday afternoon, when the defense moved to postpone a scheduled arraignment. The prosecutor didn't object and the judge agreed, setting a new arraignment date of Sept. 4.

The Haros were arrested at their Cabazon home on Friday, Aug. 22, and are each being held on $1 million bail.
