PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - Multiple Petersburg businesses and a nonprofit turned to 12 On Your Side Investigators after claiming their realty company held them back from serving the community.

From Franklin to Sycamore Street, a few businesses said they went without AC during the hottest months of the year.

Many of them were forced to close their doors, and in one case, a health clinic couldn’t open at all.

For one business, the ribbon was cut yet the doors never opened.

“We provide free HIV, STD testing, food pantry services, mobile testing units, and we have a comprehensive harm reduction service. All of our programs are free and open to the public, and we’re more geared to the LGBTQ plus community,” Zakia McKensey, founder of the Nationz Foundation, said.
