PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Pine Bluff police have escalated an investigation from first-degree battery to a homicide after the victim involved passed away.
According to reports, 47-year-old Tarlesha McPhearson was shot on August 2 near the intersection of West 12th Avenue and South Cypress Street after an unknown black male fired into the vehicle she was in.
After the shooting, the driver informed police that the suspect was in his mid-40s to 50s. He also said that, just before the incident, McPhearson had flagged him down for a ride.
After she entered the vehicle, the suspect fired one shot through his driver’s side window, striking her in the face. She later died on August 18.
