A long-lost shipwreck has been discovered in Lake Michigan.

Matt Olson, owner of Door County Adventure Rafting, first suspected something might be hiding beneath the waves when he saw a dark spot on a satellite image of Rowley Bay, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Historical Society. Then, while scouting the area for future tours, he caught sight of a shipwreck.

The Frank D. Barker had been hidden for 138 years.

Olson reported the find to the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office in July. Maritime archaeologists with the Wisconsin Historical Society conducted diving missions and identified the vessel.
