SAGINAW, MI – Former State Rep. Jewell Jones faces criminal charges for allegedly bringing two guns into a mid-Michigan hospital.

Jones is charged with two felony counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm on restricted premises after allegedly bringing the guns into Covenant Healthcare hospital in Saginaw, Chief Assistant Blair Stevenson said.

Jones was arraigned on the charges Wednesday, Aug. 27, in Saginaw County District Court, Stevenson said. He was given a $7,500 cash/surety bond.

The Inkster Democrat was the youngest person to serve in the State House when he was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives at age 21 in 2016.

He left the office in 2023 and has faced numerous legal issues.
