A local buyer has paid $3.1 million for the Regal Elmwood Center movie theater property, according to documents filed with the Erie County Clerk's office.

The building, at 2001 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, will remain a Regal theater, according to Fuad Fadel, whose company was involved in the deal.

The transaction includes the movie theater and parking lot — a total of 8.63 acres. A commercial plaza at 1999 Elmwood Ave and an Auto Zone at 2001 Elmwood Ave. share the same parking lot, but those buildings are separately owned and not part of the transaction. The adjoining commercial parcel at 1963 Elmwood Ave. is owned by the same company that sold the theater property, but was also not included in the deal.
