Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) expressed frustration at those who responded to a school shooting with "thoughts and prayers."

Following a mass shooting at the Annunciation Church on Wednesday, Frey spoke out at a press conference.

"There are no words that can capture the horror and the evil of this unspeakable act," Frey said. "Children are dead. There are families that have a deceased child. You cannot put into words the gravity, the tragedy, or the absolute pain of this situation."

"And don't just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now," he continued. "These kids were literally praying. It was the first week of school. They were in a church."

According to reports, the alleged shooter opened fire on the church during morning mass. Two of the dead children were in church pews when they were killed, law enforcement said.
