Vanderbilt will launch the home portion of its first volleyball season since 1980 in smashing fashion this weekend.

The Commodores will host Belmont on Friday in their home opener at the Wyatt Lawn on the Peabody campus (1930 South Drive), and then participate Sunday in the Broadway Block Party at Bridgestone Arena, an event that will also feature Tennessee, Nebraska, Kentucky, Purdue and Illinois.

Vandy (0-1) opened its first season in 45 years last weekend, falling 3-2 to No. 14 Kansas at the First Serve Showcase in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In that match, the ‘Dores’ Reese Animashaun posted a double-double in her collegiate debut, recording 18 kills and 11 digs. Jackie Moore registered a career-high 17 kills and hit .323, while Hailee Mack produced 28 of the team’s 59 digs.
