An additional half acre of Flat Top Park has come under the ownership and protection of the Cypress Park-based environmental group, North East Trees .
Four privately held parcels totaling 0.6 acres were purchased for approximately $281,400 with the support of the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District (RPOSD) through Measure A. The land has now been added to the 36.5 acres already owned and stewarded by North East Trees, according to a statement from the organization.
Flat Top, a hilly area on the border of Lincoln Heights and Montecito Heights, initially went to North East Trees in 2014, on the assumption that the City of Los Angeles would eventually take over the property. But a deal for the City to acquire the property was rescinded in
