FRANKFORT, Ky. —

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has released a message on the deadly shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school .

Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed Wednesday morning, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara.

Another 17 people were injured at the Annunciation Catholic School, two critically; 14 of them are children.

The shooter, a man in his early twenties, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"American children should be safe and feel safe in their schools, yet today our country faces more heartbreak as we learn of another school shooting, this time in Minneapolis," said Beshear on his X account . "Britainy and I are praying for the families, students and teachers affected."
