The Spitfires will be the last of the 20 teams in the Ontario Hockey League to opening training camp when players hit the ice on Thursday. Article content Article content
“I think it’s because we know our players,” Spitfires’ general manager Bill Bowler said of the league’s last team to open camp. “We’re confident our kids our ready.
“Training camp can be long and exhausting and players are leaving (for NHL camps), so it can be a long month. We think we have ample time.”

While some teams have brought more than 70 players to camp, the Spitfires will have a modest 55 players hit the ice on Thursday.
“We have a lot of depth,” Bowler said. “We’ve got a good hockey club.”
