WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 20-year-old man who attacked a Sedgwick County Jail deputy with scalding hot water earlier this year has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison.
Judge Chrystal Krier on Wednesday sentenced James Edward Chavez to 69 months and ordered him to pay $14,000 in restitution. He pleaded guilty on July 9 to aggravated battery and, in a separate case, trafficking contraband into a correctional facility.
