You used to make mixtapes for your crush; now you can slide into their Spotify DMs by sharing a song.

The music streaming platform has introduced a new “Messages” feature that allows users to share music, podcasts and audiobooks with others without having to leave the app.

The feature will start rolling out to both free and premium users aged 16 years and older in “select markets” this week, according to a press release . 3

Messages can be used by tapping the share icon when in the Now Playing view and selecting a friend to share the content with.

People will be able to share and start messages with people they share a Spotify plan with or users they’ve previously interacted with through Spotify via Jams, Blends or Collaborative Playlists.
