QUINCY (WGEM) - A jury trial was set for the teen who was accused of discharging a firearm near Barney’s Tavern in Quincy.

At a status hearing on Wednesday, 18-year-old Jorge A. Aguilar, of Quincy, Judge Holly Henze set a jury trial for 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 3.

Pre-trial is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 8, with a jury pre-trial at 9 a.m. on Oct. 24.

At the hearing, an admonishment sheet was filed.

The Herald-Whig said that according to the charging information, Aguilar and another Quincy man were at a local bar when Aguilar was asked to put away a firearm he was reportedly displaying.

In response to the request, witnesses said Aguilar cycled the weapon and fired a shot in the air.

Earlier this month, the Quincy Police Department responded to a man shooting a gun in the 1700 block of Broadway.
