UK outfit Embankment has launched pre-sales for romantic comedy It Happened One Summer, an adaption of Tessa Bailey’s novel of the same name, with Peter Hutchings to direct.

The feature, currently in pre-production, will star Nina Dobrev, Tyler Hoechlin and Virginia Gardner, with the shoot set to take place in early 2026 in the US.

Christina Mengert, who previously worked with Hutchings on his 2021 film The Hating Game , will write the script with Joseph Muszynski.

Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady produce for To Leslie US company BCDF Pictures. Bailey, Lisa Berger and Samantha Martin from Frolic Media are executive producing.
