The dry conditions and thunderstorms have been a recipe for disaster in western Colorado, especially in Moffat County. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office reported this week that there had been 17 separate wildfires across Moffat County in a matter of just days. 16 of the wildfires started on the same day thanks to a lightning storm. Thankfully, they were each caught quickly. One reached 2 acres while the rest were contained at under an acre. That was an exhausting day for the wildland firefighters tirelessly responding to 16 wildfires and ensuring that none of the fires spread or became a greater threat.
