NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville is pushing for more safety for walkers and bikers throughout the city.

The Nashville Department of Transportation added new bike lanes connecting Germantown and East Nashville.

A five-foot-wide bike lane was installed on Jefferson Street from Third Avenue North. There are also new bike lanes and crosswalks going across the Jefferson Street Bridge.

City leaders say this is a big step in improving connectivity across Nashville.
