A 13-year-old girl from Marblehead who died in a recent crash was someone who cared about others and “a gentle soul,” her obituary read.

Savanah Gatchell died on Aug. 29 after an early morning car crash in the area of 353 Atlantic Ave. Gatchell had life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Born Nov. 5, 2011, in Salem, Gatchell attended Marblehead Veterans Middle School and was about to enter the eighth grade, her family wrote. When in school, she “spent her time hanging out with friends and playing volleyball.”
