Ryanair could raise bonuses for staff who stop passengers bringing oversized baggage on flights , according to the budget airline's boss.

It comes amid ongoing discussions within the European Union relating to flight baggage as lawmakers recently voted in favour of a proposal allowing passengers to bring a small carry-on bag weighing up to 7kg for free.

But now, Ryanair bosses have suggested a clampdown down on those holidaymakers who aren't sticking to the rules, which could see a larger incentive for staff to catch people carrying extra baggage they haven't paid for.

Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said he makes “absolutely no apology” for catching people who are “scamming the system”.
