UPDATE: As Whitfield County prepares for the intersection closure of Houston Valley Road and Mount Vernon Road, county officials have released an updated detour route.

Traffic will be detoured around the work site using several roads.

Those traveling to Westside or Dalton will instead use Dogwood Valley Road to Houston Valley Road, Old Ringgold Road, Highway 201 and then to Highway 41.

This update removes traffic from Dunnagan and Trickum Roads.

Vehicles coming from Old Ringgold Road toward Tunnel Hill will still detour through Dogwood Valley Road to Cottonwood Mill Road.
