Nathan Eovaldi has suffered a rotator cuff strain, an injury that is likely season-ending, according to information provided by Texas Rangers general manager Chris Young.
This is a tough blow for the Rangers, who are struggling to stay in the playoff race. Texas currently has a 66-67 record and is seven games behind the AL West-leading Houston Astros.
The injury put an end to what was an outstanding season for Eovaldi at 35. In 22 starts, he posted a 1.73 ERA, striking out 129 and walking just 21 in 130 innings.

Eovaldi had already been sidelined for most of June with a triceps injury. Since his return, he had made nine starts before being diagnosed with the new shoulder injury.
