SUPERIOR, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin Superior has earned the title of StormReady designation by the National Weather Service.

StormReady is a program that help communities develop plans to handle all types of extreme weather.

Living in the snowy Northland, UWS has systems in place to notify students about severe weather warnings and forecasts.

Those systems, earning the college the StormReady designation.

To earn the designation, UWS established a 24-hour warning center, sends weather alerts, monitors local weather, promotes preparedness and has a formal hazardous weather response plan.
