Northern Michigan saw record-breaking cold temperatures the morning of Aug. 27, the National Weather Servce reported.

" Chilly morning across the Northwoods . Gaylord set a daily record low of 39 degrees, breaking the previous record of 40 degrees set on August 27, 1968," the National Weather Service in Gaylord said on X.

Roscommon reported the coldest temperature — 29 degrees — early on Wednesday, Aug. 27, with Grayling, Trout Lake and Rexton all reporting 32 degrees.

Eastern and lower areas in northern Michigan remain under hazardous weather outlooks for possible frost on Thursday morning, Aug. 28, and Friday night, Aug. 29.
