A Joplin Schools Long-Term Facilities Committee presented its findings to the Board of Education Tuesday, concluding, among other things, that some classrooms are inadequate and that some programs lack space. The committee recommended the district consider a no-tax-increase bond issue on the April 2026 ballot that can be used with capital reserves to pay for additions and renovations at Stapleton, Eastmorland and Cecil Floyd elementary schools, an indoor practice facility and new locker-rooms near the tennis, baseball and softball courts, and other improvements at Junge Field and other schools.
