CONCORD, N.H. —

Executive councilors are pressing state energy officials over unspent federal funds.

"We're going to have a cold winter coming up and that heat pump, for some people, might not get installed," Joe Kenney, R-Executive Council, said.

The state is extending the timetable for spending millions of dollars in federal energy efficiency funds that date back to the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

On Wednesday, executive councilors asked what has led to the delay.

"$50 million is a lot of money that could be benefiting low- and moderate-income families," Karen Liot Hill, D-Executive Councilor, said.

State officials are pointing the finger at Washington as time is running out on some of these funds.
