MANCHESTER, N.H. —
The Executive Council unanimously confirmed William Hart as New Hampshire's new commissioner of corrections Wednesday morning.
Hart previously served as a U.S. marshal for New Hampshire and as Londonderry's police chief.

"Leadership at the Department of Corrections is incredibly important for our state. William Hart brings extensive law enforcement and community leadership experience," said Executive Councilor Karen Liot Hill.
Hart replaces the former commissioner, who abruptly resigned in May during the state budget process.
