(NewsNation) — A Kentucky baby born 622 days ago is finally going home from the hospital.

According to WDRB, doctors gave baby Kingston Bryant just a 30% chance of survival after being born at just 1 pound.

As of Aug. 26, Kingston now weighs 21 pounds.

His parents were warned his lungs might never grow strong enough to sustain him, and there were many times when they feared they’d said their final goodbyes.

“So there’s been times I’ve gotten calls at midnight, 3 a.m., and they’re like, ‘Hey, you know, something’s going on. We’re not really sure what’s going on.’ And I immediately just pick up and go over. I mean, at least until I feel like he’s okay, or I just stay the night over there,” mother Kaycee Hartman told NewsNation local affiliate WDKY.
