KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee leaders are sharing their thoughts after a shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school left 2 children dead and 17 others injured.

Police said a lone gunman dressed in black approached Annunciation Church just before 8:30 a.m. and started firing at worshipers through the windows. Authorities said the shooter died by suicide.

Leaders with the Tennessee Democratic Party were in Minnesota for a summer Democratic National Committee Convention, which is held twice a year, according to Party Chair member Rachel Campbell . She said she felt a shift in the room at the convention after notifications began to pop up on members' phones.
