Orange County officials Wednesday launched a $1.5 million fund to help immigrant families get legal representation and provide other forms of support.
Those behind the effort said the Orange County Immigrant and Refugee Liberty Fund is one of the largest in the state as it is made up of public and philanthropic money.

Among OC cities, Santa Ana is one of the communities that need most help, according to officials, as one third of its population are immigrants.
“I’m so excited to announce that the philanthropic and public sectors are here to launch the Immigrant Communities' Liberty Fund,” Taryn Palumbo, Orange County Grantmakers Executive Director, said.
