AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — One of the area’s most anticipated rivalries is once again set to open the high school football season, as the Tascosa Rebels face off with the Palo Duro Dons on Thursday night. The action is set to begin at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Dick Bivins Stadium.

The two programs first met in 1958, with Tascosa taking the inaugural game and building a lead in the all-time series. But last season, Palo Duro snapped the Rebels’ 11-game winning streak in the rivalry with a 33-21 victory, a win that still lingers for both sides. This matchup includes multiple Division I football players, including Darian Lewis, ATH, Palo Duro, senior committed to North Carolina, Palo Duro senior, CB, Vern Blair, a UNLV commit, and Tascosa Krush Johnson, DL, who is a Texas Tech commit.
