GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Central Nebraska Regional Airport had a record-breaking July.
The Grand Island airport reported a total of 7,030 enplanements for the month of July, making it the largest July on record for the airport.
The previous record occurred in July 2016 with 6,829 enplanements.
Allegiant Air added a third flight each week from Grand Island (GRI) to Mesa Gateway (AZA) last December which spurred record-breaking numbers almost every month this year.
Due to demand, American Airlines issued larger jets to service GRI to Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) as well. The larger jets began flying Aug. 17. This upgrade allows 10 more passengers per flight, including 12 first-class seats and 63 main cabin seats.
