Several flights were delayed and cancelled at the Edmonton International Airport for just over two hours on Tuesday evening after a mechanical issue with an aircraft on the runway.

Just before 7 p.m. an incident upon landing occurred with an Air Canada aircraft, said an official at YEG.

Airport officials confirmed there were no injuries but, due to construction, YEG couldn’t accept or depart any flights for a short period of time.

“At YEG, the safety and security of our passengers, team members and partners remain our top priority. We are grateful there were no injuries and thank everyone for their continued commitment to safe operations,” said Jody Hrabiwchuk, senior communications adviser  with Edmonton International Airport in an emailed statement.
