KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Michael Ware is from Pennsylvania and earned his undergraduate degree there. However, his passion of pottery brought him to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
“I came down here because I heard all about the art. The quilters, the woodworkers, everything else, the music and all that and I thought, ‘well that is interesting.’ So, I came down in ’75 and found the people were really welcoming, so I got kind of attached,” he said.
For the past 50 years, Ware has continued to learn more about the region as he dove into his work as a potter and an educator.
“So, I was teaching full time, but still doing this on the side. So, I had actually two jobs,” he said. “I wasn’t ever tired or ever fatigued. This is what kept me going was to do this. People like my work and acc
